Dr. Jacobson is board-certified in pediatrics, adolescent medicine and obesity medicine. He specializes in lipid disorders and weight management for children and teens. He has served in several private practice and academic roles, including director of the Center for Lipid Disorders and Weight Management and professor of pediatrics, epidemiology and social medicine (nutrition) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Dr. Jacobson has lectured on pediatric lipids and obesity at many hospitals in the United States as well as in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. He has appeared in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and many national magazines and local newspapers. He is also a member of many national medical boards and associations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Heart Association and the AAP Committee on Nutrition. He has published 75 original papers in peer reviewed journals, and 40 invited reviews and chapters on childhood and adolescent nutrition, lipids, eating disorders and obesity. Dr. Jacobson received his medical degree and pediatric training from the University of Kansas in Kansas City. He completed his fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of Maryland in Baltimore before joining the faculty of The State University of New York Hospital at Stony Brook.
